Every book has a dedication of some sort. Usually, those who supported the author while writing what he or she hoped would be a best seller and send them skyrocketing to stardom as a world-famous author. Not my book. My dedication is a little different. While I know I will never achieve stardom, what I hope to achieve with this book is some solitude, comfort, understanding, compassion and yes, support. Not for me but for all the moms, dads, and caregivers who are by the bedside of their child, praying or hoping with all their might that higher powers take cancer from their child's body.
It's for the children who were ripped from their childhood and forced to be in a hospital room for months on end getting poison (chemo) pumped into their body to kill the cancer cells, or being brought to the hospital over and over and over again to get their chemo. It's for the families who don't understand why this is happening to their child and are desperately searching for answers.

No one knows why this is happening but it is and you can't change it. Stay by your child. Play with your child, comfort your child when they are so sick from the chemo that they can't swallow. Make your new "normal" as comfortable as possible. Trust me, your child will see it and will feed off your positivity.
Be strong for your child for it is your strength that they will see, they will feel and they will hold on to during their treatment and recovery. This is the mightiest battle your child will ever fight and you need to do it together.
I dedicate this book to you.
